With West Lincoln poised to grow, the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce wants to celebrate the things that make a community great. The Chamber is pleased to announce it is launching the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Awards, to recognize the businesses and organizations that help our community thrive.
“We know a community like West Lincoln is great because of the many people who lead the businesses or organizations that serve our residents,” said Kevin Huinink, executive director of the Niagara Association for Christian Education, and a member of the Chamber’s business awards committee. “From providing jobs to offering essential goods and services, from caring about the environment to caring about our community, from innovation in technology to developing employee skills, these stories need to be told and celebrated,” Huinink said.
The Chamber, which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, is seeking nominations now. Owners and customers are invited to nominate or self-nominate those businesses or organizations worthy of recognition for any of the following qualities:
- Business leadership and achievement
- Innovation in service, products or technology
- Employee relations and development
- Contribution to the employee base in West Lincoln and region
- Environmental stewardship
- Commitment to community development
- Or, any unique achievement or development not covered by above
Awards will be granted in five categories, small, medium, large, not-for-profit, and young entrepreneur, and winners will receive a one-year free membership in the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. Companies don’t need to be a Chamber member to be nominated.
“Sometimes it is the business owners, managers and employees who are the ones who know the most about their accomplishments, and that is why we are encouraging self-nomination,” said ReMax broker Wayne Schilstra, a member of the Chamber’s business awards committee. “Don’t be shy. Nominate your company or your organization. We want to know what you are up to and how you are contributing to prosperity and quality of life in West Lincoln.”
Nominations are open now and will close April 13, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. Winners will be notified in late April and will be celebrated at an awards luncheon to be held this spring. Winners will receive two complimentary tickets to the ceremony.
